Fun Community Events
-- Wednesday, May 7 -- "St. Rocco’s Dress-Down Day”. Students at St. Rocco’s School in Johnston, RI, have graciously volunteered to have a "dress down" day to collect money and canned pet food to benefit PARL's homeless animals. PARL's Director of Education, Laura Carlson, will make a presentation to St. Rocco’s 6-8 grades on animal care/safety. This event is not open to the public. PARL thanks St. Rocco's student Pharis Sasa for organizing this great event!
-- Saturday, May 17 -- "Have A Heart Day - Help our Furry Friends". Bob’s Discount Furniture in Warwick (1500 Bald Hill Road, Warwick, RI 02889 | 401-304-1101) will host an event to benefit the Providence Animal Rescue League. Our spay/neuter van will be on site with adoptable animals and information on pet care and PARL.
-- Sat. & Sun., June 7 - 8 -- Animal Planet Expo – PARL has partnered with Fresh Step Kitty Litter for this free, fun-filled family experience that even your cats and dogs will enjoy. PARL will share a tent with Fresh Step and will have adoptable cats and pet care information available at this event. Come visit us at Goddard Memorial State Park, 1095 Ives Road, Warwick, RI, 02818! 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM both days.
-- Sunday, June 8 -- Mother Dog Spa Day at the Alayne White Spa (149 Elmgrove Ave., Providence, RI | 401-272-1772). The 5th annual Mother Dog Spa Day (yes you read that right) will take place in Providence. 100% of the proceeds will go to benefit PARL's homeless animals. Expect lots of silliness. Get your precious pooch ready for our doggy spa and be prepared for lots of laughs. More information to come.
-- Saturday, June 14 -- The Gail Cahalan Gallery (200 Allens Ave., Providence, RI 02903 | 401-527-9199) hosts the opening reception for "Street and Shelter Dogs, the Wandering Spirit: Photography by Traer Scott" (exhibit runs from June 11 – July 5). Please join us for the opening reception for an exhibit featuring the photography of Traer Scott. 10% of the sales on the day of the reception will benefit the Providence Animal Rescue League. Traer Scott will be available to sign copies of her latest book, “Street Dogs” and her previously published, “Shelter Dogs”. The gallery exhibit will feature photographs from the “Street Dogs” and “Shelter Dogs” book series.
-- Saturday, September 13 -- Join us for the 20th Annual Pet Walk Rhode Island fundraiser at Roger Williams Park's Temple To Music. Pet Walk benefits our ongoing efforts to rescue and rehome homeless animals across New England! Pet Walk features a fun walk for you and your dog through Roger Williams Park. In addition, you can: shop & visit with exhibitors, see obedience demonstrations, try your luck with our raffle, play pet games, and learn about pet care. This year, PARL is partnering with the Rhode Island Veterinary Medical Association to launch their first annual Walk and Wag pet health program. |

PARL Has Seven Puppies! PARL has seven Pit Bull / Labrador Retriever mix puppies all from the same litter. There are three females and four males. They are all:
- Four months old
- Health checked
- Spay / neutered
- Microchipped
All of the puppies are dark tan and white colored (very cute!). A few have dark muzzles. These will be big dogs with lots of energy.
ADOPTION CHECKLIST
- Valid driver's licence or ID
- Document with your current address (recent bill, bank statement, etc.)
- If renting, bring proof that your lease allows pets. You will need a copy of your lease agreement or have your landlord's/landlady's phone number handy. We will need to call them to confirm.
- If you already have a dog and plan to adopt, then the dogs will need to be introduced to one another before the adoption occurs. Plan to bring your dog to PARL for an introduction. We will also need a rabies vaccination certificate for your current dog.

-- Thursday, May 29 -- Join us for "The Rescue" gala fundraiser. This cocktail party and silent auction benefits the Providence Animal Rescue League's animal welfare programs. Held in the atrium of the Peerless Lofts in Providence, RI, this gala fundraising event features live entertainment, fine cuisine, and great company all to help the many homeless pets at the League. 6:00 to 9:00 PM. 150 Union St., Providence, RI. Animal Welfare Programs
PARL Perfect Pooch Canine Training The Providence Animal Rescue League’s (PARL) comprehensive and cost-effective canine training program lets you teach old and young dogs new tricks! Throughout the spring, summer, and fall, we offer multiple obedience classes including Basic Manners, Beyond the Basics, and AKC-certified Canine Good Citizen. These classes are open to all breeds.

Feline Low-Cost Spay & Neuter The League offers a spay/neuter program for cats only. Must be at least three months old and no older than five years of age. Email surgery@parl.org if you have questions.
FEES Female spay: $85 (includes rabies)
Male neuter: $75 (includes rabies)
Rabies vaccine: Included Distemper: $15
Fees include a rabies vaccination. If your cat is already vaccinated for rabies, you must bring in written proof. We also offer a distemper vaccination for an extra $15 fee. Those receiving SSI or similar assistance are offered a distemper vaccination for free. You must provide proof of assistance. Click for details on our low-cost spay / neuter programs!
PARL Animal Fostering Programs Foster Care Volunteers are needed! As a foster parent, you will provide in-home care to animals that need a break from the shelter environment or are just born and require special attention.
Volunteers receive thorough animal-care training and supplies. You will have complete control over your time commitment and the animals that get placed in your home. In return, you are helping wonderful PARL pets become successfully adopted, and helping to reduce shelter over-population.

Volunteer @ PARL The Providence Animal Rescue League (PARL) offers a volunteer training program which combines a classroom orientation with hands-on learning. The orientation teaches volunteers the League's policies and procedures and prepares them for what it means to be a PARL volunteer and representative.
